Portuguese for Foreigners Course
Objectives and Program
Our teachers use the most appropriate tools to meet each student’s specific needs. In order to do so, we consider the student’s first language, level of comprehension in Portuguese and lastly their desired goals.
In addition, our team uses a wide variety of resources such as: books, CD’s, videos, DVD’s, texts, poems, newspapers, magazines and TV shows utilizing a modern and communicative approach of the language.

CELPE-Bras Certification
REGULAR COURSE
Our Regular course has three levels: Basic, Intermediate and Advanced.
After completing the first stage, the student will be able to both understand and produce Portuguease content (both oral and written) using basic verbal tenses (Present, Past and Future). He will be able to successfully communicate in day-to-day situations, such as talking on the phone, asking for information in airports, hotels, restaurants, etc.
After completing the intermediate course, the student will be able to more effectively communicate in both spoken and written Portuguease. They will be able to participate in seminars and to read document, magazines, periodicals, reports and technical texts, at about a 70% level of understanding . They will also demonstrate satisfactory fluency while using basic vocabulary of the language.
The goal of the advanced level is to make the student capable of communicating with ease in Portuguese, both in speaking and writing, in a confident, easy and quick way. The student will be able to participate in meetings and technical workshops, utilizing resources aquired during this course. Our students will also reach a level of written competency to allow them to write letters and reports without difficulty.
INTENSIVE COURSE (S.O.S.)
The main purpose of this course is to offer foreign students who have recently arrived in Brazil the vocabulary and grammar necessary to obtain oral proficiency in the shortest possible period of time. At the same time, the facts of the written language will be equally addressed.
The student will have daily classes, with a minimum of 10 hours per week, arranged according to his needs and schedule.
JUST FOR SPANISH SPEAKERS
This course is based on modern techniques developed by professionals of this area. Strategies are used in order to avoid any kind of misunderstanding caused mainly by false cognates and by the use of a mix of Portuguese and Spanish. The similarity between the two languages seems to make comprehension easier at first, however, it is an obstacle for the Spanish speaker to communicate without the interference of his first language because 85% of Portuguese vocabulary have cognates in Spanish.
CONVERSATION CLASSES
The goal is to help the student be able to facilitate discussions, playing an effective role among native speakers in such contexts as conferences, lectures and debates on matters of debate.
In order to have better oral comprehension and production, he listens to songs, watches videos and interviews on TV, and expresses his own opinion about these topics.

CELPE-Bras CERTIFICATION
These classes prepare for the CELPE-Bras exam (proficiency in Portuguese Language)
The students will be able to use the language with complete flexibility: good pronunciation, large vocabulary, colloquialisms and some cultural references.
